This area is about 1 hour’s drive from Nabisere hotel and has a number of interesting sites to visit. These include the Rwandan genocide memorial garden overlooking the lake where hundreds of bodies, thrown in the river in Rwanda, were washed up.
There are also the colonial bunkers where you can hear the history of how the British (in Uganda) fought the Germans (in Tanzania) in the ‘Scramble for Africa’.
There are also beautiful views of the river meanders and to the distant forest where it meets the swamp. Finally, there are a number of cultural shrines with local custodians ready to explain their significance to you.
